Get to know me!
Where did you grow up?
San Francisco, California
Who were your principle teachers?
My primary instructors were Lynn Oakley, Erica Kiesewetter, and Kay Stern, but I’ve been lucky enough to learn from a wide range of different teachers!
If you were not a violinist, what career would you follow?
In college I double majored in music and psychology, so I’d probably pursue psychology.
Who is your favorite violinist(s)?
I have many favorite violinists! On a technical level, I have been most inspired by Nathan Milstein. When I’m having a bad day though, I find myself turning most frequently to recordings of Fritz Kreisler.
What made you want to start learning the violin?
My mother is an amateur violinist who played in her spare time. Growing up, I remember how easy it seemed and how beautiful the sound was. While I soon found out that playing violin is certainly not easy, I was immediately hooked by the sound of the instrument. The rest is history!
What are some of your hobbies?
I love home cooking! It’s still a creative pursuit, but it’s so refreshingly different than my usual work!
